In Designated National Scenic Area, detached 4 star self catering cottages, in stunning locations, accommodating up to 4 people, ideal for your holiday in Gairloch. Choose from; Rona, Raasay, Freyja, Ard Mara or Minch View. All overlooking the sea and the islands of Skye, Harris and Lewis, with breathtaking sunsets. Rona & Raasay have private beach access. Wildlife sightings include basking sharks, minke whales, seals, otters, badgers and sea eagles.Cairn Shiel is the only self catering cottage in the Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve in Kinlochewe, overlooking two of Scotland’s greatest mountains; Beinn Eighe and Slioch. Pine Martens regularly visit the house and deer and eagles are often seen. All our locations are perfect for bird-watching and there are a wide variety of low level and high level mountain walks, plus beautiful sandy beaches to explore.

The area’s attractions include whale watching and marine trips, including visits to the puffin colonies on the Shiant Islands. Salmon, sea trout, brown trout, pike and sea fishing. Bird watching, falconry courses, a golf course and pony trekking. Also, boat trips on Loch Maree to view Viking Graves, Bike hire, deer stalking, a deer museum, guided hill walking/ climbing, sea kayaking, astronomy, Leisure centre, swimming pool and Inverewe Gardens to name but a few. All cottages furnished and equipped to a high standard.

Rooms Description

All 6 cottages have parking, double glazing and central heating, with well equipped kitchens, perfect for your self catering stay; cots are available. All cottages take well behaved pets by arrangement. Gairloch cottages overlook the sea, Skye, Harris and Lewis. Cairn Shiel at Kinlochewe overlooks Beinn Eighe and Slioch which are two of Scotland's most beautiful mountains. Cairn Shiel, Freyja, Raasay and Rona are all detached cottages with ground floor accommodation. Ard Mara and Minch View are 2 storey traditional highland cottages. Rona and Raasay are 80 yards from the sea, with private beach access, and are suitable for wheelchair bound guests, with ramps and wide doorways.

Specialities

At Cairn Shiel, pine martens visit the house regularly (especially if you feed them!) and deer and eagles are often seen. The house is a short distance from Torridon and Loch Maree. The other 5 cottages are set near the numerous sandy beaches and bays around Gairloch, Melvaig and Red Point. Go hill-walking, fishing for salmon, pike or sea trout. Fantastic area for bird watching, see eagles, golden eagles. Marine life includes whales, dolphins, otters, seals.
