Pilrig House is uniquely located on the edge of a tranquil park, yet it is a mere 15-minute stroll to Princes Street in the heart of Edinburgh (or 5 minutes by bus - excellent bus service close by), or to the nearby 'Shore' area of Leith - a fashionable destination by the waterside, bustling with great restaurants and wine bars. Many of the city's main attractions lie within easy reach of the accommodation, including The Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Yacht Britannia, Holyrood Castle, and the National Gallery. The house has a distingusihed history and a great literary connection - it was the home of Robert Louis Stevenson's family - one of Scotland's most acclaimed authors, and RLS often visited and played in the gardens here as a child. He mentions Pilrig House in his novels Kidnapped and Catriona.

Three wonderfully comfortable and beautifully furnished apartments are available at Pilrig House: The Park Apartment (sleeps 1-4) has a double bedroom and a single bedroom - both with park views (plus double pull-out sofa-bed in the living area); fully-equipped kitchen, luxurious bathroon with shower/shower screen over the bath; and, spacious living-room. The apartment has exclusive access via the Palladian staircase entrance, at the top of which is a small portico south-facing seating area, overlooking the park. The living area has oak flooring, a designated dining area, real flame-effect fire and a lovely recessed window-seat with stunning park views.

The Garden Apartment (sleeps 1-3) is sited, as the name suggests, at garden level and boasts views of both the park and gardens from the main rooms. The accommodation comprises: 1 double bedroom (with double pull-out sofa-bed in the living area); lovely living-room with oak flooring, Persian rug, flame-effect fire, dining-table and chairs; modern bathroom with heated towel-rail, bath (shower/shower-screen over bath), and, fully-equipped cottage-style kitchen. Finally, the Balfour Apartment (sleeps 1-4) on the second floor offers panoramic views of the entire park and Edinburgh skyline via dual-aspect windows in the sunny, spacious living-room. The interior has: large, period-style entrance hallway; 2 double bedrooms - one with super king-sized bed that can be split into twins (& double pull-out sofa-bed in the living-room); up-to-the minute, fully tiled bathroom with spacious walk-in shower cabinet; lovely kitchen overlooking the Regency garden, and wonderfully comfortable and beautifully furnished living-room which has two recessed window-seats with magical views.
