Prior to becoming a hotel in 1959, Shieldhill Castle was the seat of the Chancellor family for over 750 years. The Chancellors are recorded as one of the oldest families in the area, having come from France at the time of the Norman Conquests, along with the Somervilles of Carnwath, with whom there are long standing connections.

Rooms Description

Each of the 26 bedrooms has its own characteristics and are beautifully decorated, some featuring four poster beds and Jacuzzi baths. Our charming rooms, each named after Scottish battles or Malt Whisky, offer privacy, exclusivity and glorious views of the gardens.

Chancellors’ Restaurant, in the hands of our expert kitchen team, justly deserves the two Rosette distinction awarded to it by the A.A. The menu uses the best locally sourced fresh ingredients, including carefully selected fish, meat, game and vegetables.
