High quality Isle of Skye country hotel. Situated on the southern peninsula & set on a two acre site

Toravaig is a stylish, contemporary country house hotel situated in the Garden of Skye with magnificent views over the sea to the mainland hills beyond. Set amidst two acres in a secluded part of the island the hotel is one of the island's most exclusive and luxurious retreats. Inside the hotel the plush Sitting Room with green marble fireplace, grand piano, sumptuous sofas and expensive fabrics is through one door opposite reception. At night guests relax by the crackling fire – glimpsing the Iona Restaurant through bevelled glass-paned doors – and order dinner over drinks. Within the restaurant there is a small dispensary bar (with a good range of malts and liqueurs) but there is no bar room as such. Almost certainly you’ll be welcomed warmly by Anne or Ken and shown up to your room.

This hotel has gained a fine reputation for its cuisine and only the freshest of Highlands and Islands produce features on the menus. The dining room is, like the rest of the house, intimate and in good taste: high-backed modern leather seating; white linen napery; red candles set in witty brass propeller holders (a reference to Ken’s previous life), colourful Scottish prints; big gilt-framed mirrors; soft cream and mulberry coloured plaid curtains. The fairly-priced wine list is nicely done with a decent range of wines by the glass. AA rosette awarded summer 2005.

Rooms Description

Each of our nine immaculate and plush rooms is individually decorated with great attention to detail. All are fully en-suite with pressurized showers and many have baths. We have a choice of single, twin and double rooms and each is equipped with TV, complimentary miniature of Torvaig malt whisky, fruit bowl, bottled water, toiletries, CD/radio and a hospitality tray.

Specialities

Daily sailings are available on the hotel's yacht. Beautiful wedding ceremonies, civil partnership ceremonies and wedding receptions come naturally to us here at Toravaig. More suggestive of a lovely private house than a hotel, with fine paintings and antiques, subtle lighting, fresh flowers and the kind of individual ornaments that give real character, Toravaig is the definitive wedding, wedding reception, romantic break or honeymoon venue. The rooms are so elegant, the staff so attentive, the experience will remain with you forever.
