Cringletie is a luxurious, romantic country house hotel on the Scottish borders, close to Peebles golf club and only 20 miles south of Edinburgh. The hotel has been awarded a 4 star grading and an AA ‘Top Hotel (Inspector’s Choice), as well as 4 gold stars from Visit Scotland. The original house was built in 1666 and replaced in 1861 – in 1971 it was awarded Grade B listed status. This beautiful House is set in 28 acres, and features a walled garden and dovecote, which has been the setting for romantic candle lit dinners. The gardens are home to grazing sheep, an orchard, a cascading waterfall, a kitchen garden that provides the restaurant's vegetables and a famous 400 year old yew hedge. Games such as boules, giant chess, draughts, pitch and putt and a croquet lawn are available in the grounds.

Head Chef Craig Gibb presides over our 2 rosette Sutherland Restaurant, serving seasonal produce, taken from our Victorian greenhouse or walled garden. We have an affiliation with Villeneuve wine and can arrange tasting events of good Scottish Whisky. For breakfast you can choose between a full Scottish or a lighter continental option. We can also deliver picnic hampers, with 24 hrs notice. We host conferences, corporate events, meetings and team building events. We host weddings and have an events team. We can arrange fishing, golf, and in room spa treatments such as Swedish massages, holistic treatments, facial and body treatments, hand and feet, waxing and child pampering. All our public rooms have roaring log fires and service bells, for a warming whisky or delicious afternoon tea.

Rooms Description

All our bedrooms have wall-mounted flat screen TV, and high-speed internet access (LAN) and Wi-Fi, as well as the usual facilities like trouser press and phone. Bathrooms all have robes, slippers, and an enticing range of luxurious Molton Brown toiletries. There are fruit bowls and mineral water in all rooms. Depending on the room, you will have bath and shower, shower over bath, or shower. Our luxury rooms have super king-size beds (180 cm wide). Our Deluxe rooms are slightly larger, with added touches including decanters of whisky and sherry, and a wider selection of Molton Brown toiletries. Our Junior Suites are larger still, and include a very romantic suite with half-poster bed, and our Wedding Suite with full four-poster. Cringletie's most prestigious 'room' is the Selkirk Suite, with lounge, bedroom and a 'wow' bathroom. It's often used as a honeymoon suite, but is also perfect for all couples who want to spoil themselves for a day or two.
