Loch Lomond is the largest body of inland water in the United Kingdom and covers over 27 square miles. Tarbet lies about half way up the loch and there are a number of forest walks to be found close to the house. The more energetic might like to try some hill climbing on one of the area's many munroe. The mountains to the north and west of Arrochar at the head of Loch Long are perhaps the most popular and are known as the Arrochar Alps.

Lying as we do at the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park there are no shortage of outdoor activities to be found locally. Among these are walking, climbing, golf, mountain biking, horse riding, fishing, sailing and various other watersports. Opposite the Tarbet Hotel, which lies some 300 yards from the Lomond View Country House there is a picnic area with parking from where you can take trips around the loch. At the side of the hotel is the Arklet Falls where you could also relax in the beer garden watching the waterfall. Tarbet is ideally situated for day trips to Inverary, Oban, Crinnan Canal, Dunoon, Aberfoyle, Callender, Stirling or north to Fort William and Glencoe.
