St Margarets Cottage is a traditional sandstone built property occupying a commanding position above the Orkney village of St Margarets Hope. Our elevated position offers spectacular views of the bay to Scapa Flow and the islands of Burray, Hunda and Hoy. The families of your hosts, Fred and Barbara Brown, have been in South Ronaldsay for many generations and they look forward to sharing their beautiful island with you.

The village of St Margarets Hope is one of the pettiest on the Northern Isles and we have many excellent facilities. Here, art galleries and craft shops display some of the finest work of Orkney makers and painters. In addition to shops, the village has three pubs serving good beers and food and an award winning restaurant, The Creel. The surrounding countryside has some of the finest scenery in Orkney - unspoilt beaches and crystal-clear water, rock-pools, cliffs and islets. Open heather moorland and meadows have breeding Short-eared Owls and Hen Harriers, while seals, otters, porpoises and whales may all be seen from the clifftops.
