Gay Edinburgh, Edinburgh What's On Gay Scene

Edinburgh has a superb and growing gay scene around the Broughton Street, Leith Walk area of the city nicknamed the Pink Triangle. Its roots date back to the 1970s when the first gay and lesbian centre appeared in the area.

The area offers a choice range of gay cafes, gay bars, an exclusively gay club - CC Blooms and a couple of gay saunas. Gay nights run in clubs like the Liquidroom (Taste on Sundays).

Edinburgh's definitive gay gathering spot in the heart of Edinburgh's Broughton Gay Scene iconically named 'Pink Triangle'. Great vegetarian here! Broughton Street and the Broughton area to the north of Edinburgh city centre is the centre for Edinburgh's gay scene, and if accommodation, bars, cafes and restaurants aren't gay owned, they'll all be gay friendly.

Edinburgh Nightclubs, Edinburgh Live Music

There's some legendary huge nightclubs in Edinburgh with a longstanding reputation. One of the best is The Bongo Club on Holyrood Road (see weblink right for lineup and details). It used to be on New Street, but has a new home here on Holyrood Road. Specialising in art, music and the underground, this venue mixes live music, film, thetre, DJ's and more and breaks new ground consistently!

Another of Edinburgh's renowned clubs is Cabaret Voltaire in the Cowgate district (see weblink right for gigs). Regulars at Cabaret Voltaire include I Fly Spitfires (currently doing a monthly session here). For an alternative rock edge hit the Citrus Club on Grindlay Street, or for jazz see the superb Jazz Bar on Chambers Street (weblink right).

Other favourite Edinburgh Clubs include The Liquid Room (website right) on Victoria Street, one of the larger venues in Edinburgh famous for its live music/big name house/techno DJs and its gay friend Taste night on Sundays. Debut performances held at the Liquidroom include the likes of the Stereophonics, Travis and Divine Comedy.
