Edinburgh has a superb and growing gay scene around the Broughton Street, Leith Walk area of the city nicknamed the Pink Triangle. Its roots date back to the 1970s when the first gay and lesbian centre appeared in the area.

There's some legendary huge nightclubs in Edinburgh with a longstanding reputation. One of the best is The Bongo Club on Holyrood Road (see weblink right for lineup and details). It used to be on New Street, but has a new home here on Holyrood Road. Specialising in art, music and the underground, this venue mixes live music, film, thetre, DJ's and more and breaks new ground consistently!
Another of Edinburgh's renowned clubs is Cabaret Voltaire in the Cowgate district (see weblink right for gigs). Regulars at Cabaret Voltaire include I Fly Spitfires (currently doing a monthly session here). For an alternative rock edge hit the Citrus Club on Grindlay Street, or for jazz see the superb Jazz Bar on Chambers Street (weblink right).
Other favourite Edinburgh Clubs include The Liquid Room (website right) on Victoria Street, one of the larger venues in Edinburgh famous for its live music/big name house/techno DJs and its gay friend Taste night on Sundays.
