Avril Paton's painting, 'The Barras' (1984), usually on display in Glasgow's People's Palace, is a modern take on the market. The painting is crammed with peoplebustling around for bargains, all of whom seem to have an individuality and expression, which is unusual and no doubt deliberate. Hard hitting, the painting will keep your attention for quite awhile!
