Benbecula Tourist Information

Benbecula falls between North Uist and South Uist. It is linked to both these islands by causeways. Its main settlement is Balivanich in the north west of the island an is the administrative centre for the Uists and Benbecula. The west coast is largely cultivated whereas the east is a mix of freshwater lochs, moorland, bog and deeply indenting sea lochs. Craigstrome near Ruabhal is Benbecula's highest hill at 124 metres.

Flights to Benbecula land at Benbecula Airport which appears on the Benbecula map to the west coast of the island. It used to be an RAF base during the war, but started taking passenger flights after it ended. The airport has a modern terminal building with a cafe. Loganair run regular scheduled flights from Glasgow to Benbecula and also from Berra. Highland Airways fly from Stornoway to Benbecula. Benbecula Attractions

Benbecula Golf Course is one of the island's main attractions and never fails to provide a challenge to any golfer - not least because of the presence of wild rabbits!
